Dr. Graham Michael

General Practitioner. MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery)
Dr Graham Michael is a highly experienced General Practitioner with nearly five decades of diverse clinical practice across Australia. Graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Queensland in 1976, he initially trained in surgery before establishing a distinguished career in rural and regional general practice, emergency medicine, aged care, and Indigenous health.
Over the course of his career, Dr Michael has held senior medical officer, emergency department, and general practice roles throughout Queensland, Tasmania, the Northern Territory, Victoria, New South Wales, and Western Australia. He has extensive experience in remote and rural medicine, including one-doctor hospitals where he provided comprehensive GP, emergency, and inpatient services under demanding conditions.
From long-term general practice roles in Toowoomba, Dalby, and Crow’s Nest to locum and telehealth positions across the country, Dr Michael has built a reputation for clinical excellence, adaptability, and commitment to patient care. He has also contributed significantly to aged care medicine through residential facility practice, and to Indigenous health through his work with the “Closing the Gap” program in the Gulf region.
In addition to his medical practice, Dr Michael was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 1992 to pursue his interest in phytochemistry and natural product extraction. Outside of medicine, he enjoys photography and sailing.
Dr Michael continues to practice as a General Practitioner now as the newest addition to the Jema Clinic team, bringing a wealth of experience, compassion, and dedication to the communities he serves.
